The idea of duality is something I see manifested every day around me. For this project, being able to juxtapose, not just two forms or two ideas, but two real people from completely different experiences isn’t my only goal. I want to see the shades of vulnerability, the often disregarded susceptibility inherent in being displaced on one side, and the blunt awareness of nudity propped against it. It is exploration of the concept where an idea can be both clean and dirty, heads and tails of the same penny.
The images I capture speak about more than abstractions on themes. The objects in each scene, the clutter, the derelict chairs and cooking pots, is the realization that this isn't a camp, but inside someone's home. This reality exposes a glimpse into the experience of a community of people whose neighborhood is tucked away. The reality of decent people caught up in an indecent situation.
